Transport & Communication

Pakistan Freedom Movement has developed a coherent plan that encompasses organized growth in infrastructure and transport needs in rail, road, air, sea, telecom and virtual networks to promote trade, commerce, business and tourism … thereby providing the backbone to jump start the economy of the country.

With a requirement of transferring inland haulage to either railways or else to multiple axis road vehicles, the longevity and maintenance of road infrastructure will be ensured. Efforts will be made to explore the possibility of using our countrywide river belts for transport of goods up and down stream.

Public private partnerships will be solicited to connect the inner cities, towns and villages of Pakistan through a network of motorways, expressways and highways. Additionally, works on Pak China Economic Corridor (CPEC) will be continued on a fast pace, to ensure that Pakistan is linked with its regional counterparts through these road networks.

The tracks of Pakistan Railways have shrunk to around 9,000 km (from 11,800 km in 1960). These tracks will be renovated and expanded to ensure that railway network is connected domestically and with neighboring countries. The port and airport of Gawadar under the CPEC will continue to be developed on fast pace.

The Telecoms and IT sectors will be given an elevated significance, while staying on top of facilitating the private sector to bring in the latest technologies and infrastructure in the country.
